Researchers from NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory <a href=\"http:\/\/climate.nasa.gov\/news\/2218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have found<\/a> that aerosols from across the Pacific strengthen&nbsp;extratropical cyclones\u2014a type of storm system that drives much of our country&#8217;s weather.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;\">Asia is home to the world&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/qz.com\/307176\/thirteen-of-the-20-most-polluted-cities-in-the-world-are-indian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">20 most polluted cities<\/a>, but that dirty air doesn\u2019t stay put,&nbsp;as the above animation of aerosol emissions shows. Water vapor in the atmosphere condenses around particles, and an influx of particulate matter\u2014say, from a coal-fired power plant\u2014can produce bigger, badder clouds. So far, the atmospheric scientists&nbsp;have only looked at how pollution from the continent affects North American weather, but they expect that the effects are global in scale. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;\">When countries around the world finalize <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onearth.org\/earthwire\/mad-libs-lima-climate-summit-was-adjective\">carbon emissions commitments<\/a>, let\u2019s hope they remember we\u2019re on different sides of the same planet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Italian courtesy translation<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>Tempeste sempre pi\u00f9 intense negli Stati Uniti potrebbero avere un&#8217;origine inattesa: l&#8217;inquinamento atmosferico asiatico.
